AboutBushdid Smiles

We are a Complete Health Dental practice where we recognize the mouth is the gateway to the rest of your body for good health. We are an airway centric practice that realizes the consequences of an obstructed airway include improper development of the head and neck, symptoms of TMJD and other systemic conditions such as heart disease. As a result we have a strong emphasis on early intervention and functional orthopedics/orthodontics. We treat our dysfunctional TMJD patients using neuromuscular principles as well as the latest technology including 3DCB imaging. We collaborate with other professionals including a Rocabado trained Craniocervical PT and Myofunctional Therapist, as we believe an aligned atlas and axis and proper tongue position are core to stabilizing your body. We use all these principles along with the latest Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry to give you the smile you deserve!

We are your one stop dental practice for you and your family emphasizing on your total health and well-being. Dr. Bushdid and our team invite you to schedule an appointment by calling 305-740-1443 and experience why our patients think Bushdid Smiles is their dentist in Coral Gables.

Dr. Bushdid

Dr. Jose A. Bushdid was born and raised here in sunny South Florida. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelors degree in Biology. He went on to the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD) where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.). He then completed a 1 year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the University of Florida's clinic here in South Florida. He was clinical instructor at the UFCD clinic for years, where he taught residents the latest in cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry.

Dr. Bushdid’s post graduate education includes:

  • Breathe Institute, where Dr. Saroush Zaghi and his team, teach the latest in airway, breathing and sleep including functional frenuloplasty.
  • Facial Beauty Institute, where Dr. Steve Gallela, teaches Facial Growth Orthodontics.
  • Occlusion Connections, where Dr. Clayton Chan, teaches the principles and application of Gneuromuscular Dentistry including Orthopedics and Orthodontics.
  • Oral Design Miami, where Drs. Javier Vasquez, Mariano Rocabado and Peter Ferro teach the dynamic relationship between Craniocervical and Craniomandibular.
  • Next Level Practice, where Gary Kadi and his team of facilitators, teach dental teams how to take their practice to the Next Level.
  • Surgical Implant Placement for the General Dentist with Dr. Michael McCracken.
  • Center for Occlusal Studies and Straight Wire Orthodontics Studies, where Dr. Jay Gerber teaches Neuromuscular TMJ treatment and Orthodontics.
  • Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), the first Post Graduate teaching institute to combine Neuromuscular and Cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Bushdid is known for his passion and love of dentistry. And now more than ever, due to all his years of training and experience, he states "There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone who has been suffering from debilitating pain for years, while giving them a beautiful smile that they are proud of in the process."

Dr. Bushdid also realizes that most, if not all, of these debilitating TMJ symptoms can be avoided, if attention is taken to the proper development of the head and neck as we are growing. That’s the main reason Dr. Bushdid has now started seeing more children. A lot of these problems stem from undiagnosed obstructed airways in children. One of Dr. Bushdid’s favorite quotes which he learned from Dr. Zaghi is do not wait for the fire, which is adults with sleep apnea and TMJ, put out the smoke, which is our children developing as mouth breathers.

Dr. Bushdid’s other passion is his family and friends. He is happy to come home every day to his beautiful wife, Lina, who happens to be a dentist as well, and their 3 adorable daughters, Sofia, Mia and Emma!

He is blessed to have loving and supportive parents and a sister, who have helped the practice grow in every way imaginable.

Throughout the years, Dr. Bushdid and his team at Bushdid Smiles have taken part in various events aimed toward making difference in the community. Some of the organizations whom they have helped include The Knights of Columbus, His House, Landmark Education and St. Theresa Catholic School.

Jessica

Complete Health Facilitator (Office Manager)

I am very passionate about what I do and consider myself extremely fortunate to be in a position where I am able to help people every day. I take pride in my work and in my relationships with our patients. I am lucky to be surrounded by a team of professionals that not only care for our patients’ well-being, but also about educating them along the way. Every day is full of new challenges that I openly embrace. After 10 years in the dental field, I still learn something new every day.

I was born and raised in Miami, FL and attended FSU and FIU for college. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my amazing (and very big) family and close friends. They are my biggest blessing and have given me the morals and foundation that make me proud of who I am today. My happy place is by the ocean. I love music, traveling, a good read, and my biggest fan is my yorkie, Tinkerbelle.
